Security model and threat coverage

(Updated: )

Moonlock’s security model is built around layered, real-time protection tailored specifically for macOS. It combines proactive threat detection, system hardening, and privacy-first design to defend against both known and emerging threats.

At its core, Moonlock uses a hybrid engine that blends signature-based detection (to quickly identify known malware) with behavior-based analysis (to spot suspicious or zero-day activity). Real-time monitoring ensures that file changes, app behavior, and network activity are continuously observed without slowing down your system.

Threat coverage

Moonlock covers a wide range of digital risks that target everyday Mac users, from common annoyances to serious cyber threats. The Malware Scanner module identifies and removes:

  1. Malware that can harm your system or steal data.

  2. Ransomware that encrypts your files and demands payment.

  3. Adware that floods your screen with pop-ups or redirects.

  4. Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) like bundleware or fake utilities.

  5. Spyware and keyloggers that secretly monitor your actions.

In addition to scanning, Moonlock’s modules like VPN, Network Inspector, and System Protection work together to block unauthorized access, protect network traffic, and prevent system-level tampering.
