Real-time protection daemons and what they do

(Updated: )

Moonlock includes background daemons — lightweight system agents that quietly monitor for threats even when the app isn’t open. These daemons are responsible for:

  1. Real-time file monitoring: Scanning files and apps as they're opened, downloaded, or modified
  2. Behavior monitoring: Watching for suspicious activity like privilege escalation or system tampering
  3. System integrity checks: Detecting unauthorized changes in protected areas of macOS

Moonlock’s real-time protection daemons are optimized for macOS and designed to work silently in the background, alerting you only when something requires action.
